We all know clothes aren’t cheap, so we need to preserve the quality for as long as possible. When you’re washing delicates, dark clothes, items that may shrink or bleed, you should use cold water. You should use warm water for dress shirts or clothes that are dirty enough to the point that they may stain. Lastly, when you’re washing white clothes (cotton) bedsheets, clothes with stains from oil or grease, and towels, hot water is best.

Lastly, one of the biggest keys to doing laundry is how much laundry detergent you use. Sometimes I feel like the more laundry detergent you use the better but that’s completely incorrect. When you add more detergent than you should, you run the risk of creating soil surds that redeposit onto your clothes while washing.
